The Fireball 318 was fourth-generation Chrysler Valiant VH series, offered in Australia in 1971. Engine rotation was reversed for the Australia market, since with the swapping of the passenger sides with the driver sides of cars on offer Australia, Chrysler did not want drivers to become confused.

I haven’t heard about this. Can they really be running the engine in reverse rotation? That would cause major issues while borrowing any US sourced transmissions or rear axles . And getting the propeller shafts moved slightly to the left would be the only benefit.
I do know that Chrysler did make reverse rotation V8s for boat applications . And some big block truck engines did use reverse rotation camshafts as they did use two timing gears instead of the regular timing chain with sprockets .

It’s complete bulls**t. A favorite theme of mine on Oppo is to rib the Australians about their right hand-drive cars.

I saw a show about some wooden cabin cruiser powered by a pair of Ferrari engines and one of them turned backwards because of the propeller screw.

It was a very rare and expensive boat, something you’d see in Venice.

Ferrucio Lamborghini ordered himself a Riva Aquarama with two 4 litre Lamborghini V12s . It also one engine running in reverse direction. The boat has been restored but the engines aren’t the original ones. Picture by Wired:
